What is required for Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Ballistic Testing? The FRA 49 CFR Part 223 standard requires that three (3) identical samples pass the ballistic tests. This means that you can submit more than three (3) samples for testing, but at least three (3) of them must pass. Additionally, the FRA standard requires that the test specimen size must be the size of the largest glazing you ever plan to offer. In order to provide a FRA type quotation, we need the following information about the test samples:
